International Women’s Month may officially be marked on March 8th, but at our company, the celebration continues. This year’s theme, “Accelerating Growth,” is not just a slogan—it’s a commitment. “Accelerate Action IWD Meaning” – This is a call for a more urgent and comprehensive approach to achieving gender equality, recognizing that significant progress is needed to address persistent barriers and biases faced by women. As part of our mission to empower women in the workplace, we have taken significant steps to support and encourage women within our company to transition into key technology roles, including project management, UI/UX design, and core programming jobs.
The push for women in STEM is not just about representation; it’s about security, empowerment, and breaking long-standing barriers. As highlighted during one of our recent discussions celebrating International Women’s Day, security for women extends beyond physical safety—it includes financial security, workplace inclusion, and access to equal opportunities.
Why Women in STEM?
The tech industry has historically been male-dominated, but times are changing. Women are stepping into pivotal roles in technology, innovation, and digital transformation. However, the journey is not always easy. Societal biases, lack of mentorship, and workplace inequalities often discourage women from pursuing careers in STEM.
Despite these challenges, progress is being made. Women now represent 35% of the tech workforce globally, though this figure highlights a stark gender imbalance with a male-to-female ratio of 3:1. In the United States, women make up nearly half of the overall workforce (47%) but occupy only 28% of STEM-related roles and a mere 20% of computer science positions. Additionally, only 26.5% of executive and senior-level roles in tech are held by women, showing that leadership opportunities remain limited for female professionals.

The barriers women face in STEM are multifaceted. For instance, 72% of women in tech report experiencing “bro culture” environments, and 78% feel they must work harder to prove their value compared to male colleagues. Furthermore, imposter syndrome affects many women in tech, with 84% admitting they’ve refrained from applying for jobs due to self-doubt about their skills or experience.
Yet, as Cynthia pointed out in our recent discussion, security for women is about more than just feeling safe; it’s about “having a support system or resources that support us in case we encounter a crisis.” For women in STEM, this means mentorship programs, career development initiatives, and access to opportunities that allow them to thrive. Mentorship is particularly crucial given the lack of female role models—only 3% of African American women and 2% of Hispanic women are represented in tech roles13.
Breaking Barriers, One Career at a Time
At Prembly, we recognize the importance of hiring women and actively supporting their career transitions into tech-related roles. Whether it’s through internal mentorship programs, skill-building workshops, or leadership opportunities, we are committed to ensuring women have the resources they need to excel.
As Chuka, Prembly’s Verification Analyst rightly said, “Security is more of breaking the barriers inflicted on women.” These barriers are often unseen—perceptions that women are less capable in technical fields, limited access to funding for female-led innovations, and societal norms that prioritize men in STEM careers. By providing women with access to training and hands-on experience in technology roles, we are not only breaking these barriers but also accelerating their growth in meaningful ways.
The Role of Financial Security in STEM Empowerment
One of the key aspects of security for women is financial independence. As Fola emphasized, “Financial control gives you so much power. It gives you the wisdom to make decisions about your future.” A career in STEM offers financial stability and growth opportunities, ensuring that women can achieve independence and contribute meaningfully to the global economy.
With our company’s expertise in financial security and identity verification, we are uniquely positioned to champion safe and equitable workplaces where women in STEM can excel without the fear of financial insecurity or workplace discrimination.
Creating a Future Without Limits
As we continue to celebrate women beyond International Women’s Month, our focus remains on long-term impact. We are dedicated to ensuring that every woman in our organization who dreams of a career in STEM has the support, mentorship, and resources to make it happen.
As Simbiat passionately put it, “Security for me actually means having an environment where women can thrive.” This is the future we are building—one where women in STEM are not the exception but the norm.
To every woman considering a career in STEM: the future is yours to shape, and we are here to support you every step of the way.
