Creating an account on a website typically requires little more than a username, email address, and password. Although this registration is convenient, it does not necessarily establish who is behind the account.
For WordPress websites that require verified users, this presents an important challenge: how can businesses confirm someone’s identity before granting them access?
HDYHaus is addressing this with HDYHaus Identity Verification, a free WordPress plugin that integrates Prembly’s identity verification technology directly into the native WordPress registration process.
With this integration, website owners can verify users’ identities before WordPress creates their account, introducing an additional layer of trust from the beginning of the registration process.
Introducing HDYHaus Identity Verification
HDYHaus Identity Verification is a WordPress plugin designed for websites that need to confirm users’ identities before allowing them to register. Instead of allowing users to create an account first and requesting verification afterwards, the plugin makes identity verification a requirement during registration.
Using Prembly as its first supported verification provider, HDYHaus enables website owners to integrate identity checks into their existing WordPress registration flow without replacing the native registration form.
The plugin is especially useful for single-site WordPress communities and service portals where knowing who is joining is important. It also retains WordPress’s existing password-setup email process, allowing website owners to add identity verification without completely changing the registration experience.
How the Plugin Works With Prembly
The integration connects HDYHaus’s WordPress plugin with Prembly’s identity verification infrastructure, allowing verification to take place before a user account is created.
The process follows four steps:
- Registration: A user enters their username, name, and email address through the native WordPress registration form.
- Consent: Before verification begins, the user accepts the displayed consent wording and can access the relevant provider policy links.
- Identity Verification: Prembly performs the identity checks configured by the website owner through its verification widget.
- Server Confirmation: The plugin confirms the verification result on the server before WordPress creates the account and sends the password-setup email.
If verification is incomplete, missing, or cannot be confirmed, account creation is blocked. This ensures that identity verification is not just an optional step after registration but a requirement for creating an account.
Getting Started With HDYHaus Identity Verification
For WordPress website owners and developers interested in using the plugin, getting started requires a Prembly account and a configured verification widget. After installing and activating the HDYHaus Identity Verification plugin, website administrators can connect their Prembly SDK Widget Key and Configuration ID through the plugin settings.
They can then configure the appropriate environment, review consent wording and privacy information, and test the registration process before making it available to users. The plugin currently supports native WordPress registration on single-site installations running WordPress 6.4 or newer and PHP 8.1 or newer.
It does not currently support WooCommerce, BuddyPress, MemberPress, Ultimate Member, other custom registration forms, or WordPress Multisite.
